A two-month cruise around the Australian Coast is being halted in the wake of the fatal incident of an elderly lady who was stranded by the ship on a remote island.

The passenger had been hiking on the tropical location with shipmates from the cruise ship, but separated from the group for a pause. The vessel departed without her and went back later that day after the crew discovered the woman was unaccounted for.

A large-scale hunt discovered her body the subsequent day.

Officials are investigating the event, alongside investigators and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer said that passengers and personnel on the ship were told that the remainder of the journey had been cancelled due to the "unfortunate death and previous mechanical issues".

Through an announcement, he further stated that guests would be issued a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to organize the homeward trips of the individuals via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also released an revised communication, and said they had "delivered a notice to the Master" banning any additional guests from entering the ship.

The representative said that they would visit the liner in the Australian city upon its arrival.

The liner initially left the coastal city on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the voyage at the time of the 80-year-old's death. Lizard Island was the initial destination on the journey.

Guests on the vessel - who usually pay tens of thousands of money to take part in the voyage - were taken there for a day trip with the option of trekking or snorkeling.

Family Response

The daughter of the victim said that her family was "stunned and saddened that the ship left Lizard Island after an organised excursion without my mum".

In her statement, she described her parent as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a affiliate of a hiking organization.

"According to scant facts we have been informed, it appears that there was a failure of responsibility and basic judgment," she said.

She further stated that she desired the investigation would be able to determine what "the operator should have done that might have protected Mum's being".

"We understand from the investigators that it was a extremely warm afternoon, and mother took sick on the hill climb," she explained.
