Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
