Renowned Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.
US entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved programs like "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California recently following treatment for cancer since 2022, per reports.
"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones said in a message.
They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".
An Extensive Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.
Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several popular shows, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted on social media.
Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
