Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from spring of that year.

The win also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

He defended four early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
