Severe Rains Exacerbate Situation for Evacuated Gazans, UN Caution
Heavy storms over the recent period have compounded the precarious living conditions of the many hundreds of thousands of evacuated residents in the Gaza Strip, as stated by aid agencies.
"Horrendous" Night Poses Severe Threats
A representative characterized the recent storm as "awful", with downpours so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.
"Last night was really terrible for the residents. The storms were so strong... And the winds were so powerful," said the spokesperson.
There is extreme anxiety that minors sheltering in tents in soaked clothing will succumb to hypothermia and other illnesses.
Fatalities and Extensive Destruction
Medical officials have confirmed that one baby has died from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have been killed in structural failures caused by the severe weather.
Additional accounts suggest a increased fatality count. Officials stated that several homes had fully given way and many others had been partly destroyed.

Assistance Distribution Seen as Insufficient
