Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received significant support from management,” the coach commented.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase like this with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
