The Renowned Musician Calls On Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“The song holds a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced following a solidarity show held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.
The diverse array of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a group of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a group of producers and composers. The track features a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of buildings said to be destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
