Trump Welcomes Families of Attacked Guard Soldiers to the White House

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Devastating Event

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.

White House Call

The president explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump addressed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Support

Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the leader of her previous school, told the press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Actions and Government Changes

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The event led the government to pause asylum processing and cease granting visas to holders of travel documents.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general stated on the program that she also intended to speak to the family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
