This marks the last article I am writing before one of two scenarios unfolds: either our vessel reaches Gaza, or our craft is taken by Israel. We hope to get there on the ninth of October, after sailing the seas since September 27th.

Recently, we saw Israeli forces apprehending the crew members on the primary aid vessels just before their scheduled arrival. This appears to be the comparable stage at which Israeli authorities could endeavor to capture our boats from the Thousand Madleens and Freedom Flotilla Coalition.

Journeying During Dangerous Conditions

Our follow-up mission has continued sailing amid numerous accounts about what happened of the initial participants. While positioned near Cyprus, getting ready for overnight duty while monitoring a loud unidentified drone, we were informed that Israel had illegally commandeered the two main Sumud boats outside territorial boundaries.

The following morning brought sobering reality while I completed daily chores: scrubbing eating utensils in the small sink, reviewing communications repeatedly while Israel progressively captured the remainder of the flotilla.

These events have merely reinforced our collective determination to maintain our course.

Living Conditions Aboard

At this sailing stage, I've created a schedule. My resting pattern includes taking first sleep shift overnight, then working night watch through early morning, securing additional rest afterwards for a total of five hours. Further sleeping becomes impractical during choppy waters and regular disruptions of communal living.

My resting space includes a narrow cushion placed over the seating area in the communal zone. Every sunrise I attire myself enclosed in my bedding while someone prepares coffee in close proximity. Certain aspects of coexisting with six other individuals aboard a compact boat require significant adaptation.

The Mission's Purpose

The therapeutic resources and infant nutrition products stored in the stern cabin and steering zone of our craft might preserve many individuals should we achieve our goal. In a recent discussion, an interviewer proposed they considered our journey representative because prevention looked unavoidable.

Considered remotely, this understanding could appear reasonable. However, after sailing extended periods with relief supplies throughout your environment, knowing its precise location, persisting belief proves necessary to access requiring populations.

Expanding Beyond Assistance

Yet, providing supplies does not represent the mission's final objective. Officials often question about not allowing their distribution of our aid. Aside from justified suspicion about whether distribution would occur given prolonged restrictions, agreeing to these terms would implicitly acknowledge dominion regarding coastal areas.

Concerning Updates

Recent information revealed about the Sumud flotilla participants: movement to Negev facility, designation as unlawful entrants despite forcible removal beyond territorial limits. Reports indicated denial of basic necessities including water, medicine and food, along with disrespectful behavior and sometimes brutality by detention officers.

Recent statistics indicated over three hundred participants were expelled with 138 remaining detained.

Wider Perspective

These conditions appear horrific however they lessen compared to the systematic abuses endured by incarcerated individuals in identical institutions. Recorded instances involve fatal brutality causing fatalities without subsequent accountability concerning participating officers.

Rights monitoring groups have extensively recorded systematic mistreatment methods and gender-based violations inside confinement facilities. Despite worldwide outrage regarding flotilla participants' treatment remains justified and necessary, comparable focus has been absent regarding Palestinian hardship across generations of occupation.

Morning Reflections

Daily dawn I behold the boundless blue ocean and the fading lunar presence prior to following sunrise. This maritime freedom to navigate vast waters highlights the essential comprehension that our mission transcends charity.

Palestinian freedom remains unrealized and our own liberties shall stay diminished until that freedom is attained. This fundamental truth clarifies our persistent navigation. The explanation stands uncomplicated.
